{"id":1276,"date":"2013-12-10T16:28:48","date_gmt":"2013-12-10T21:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2013-12-10T16:28:48","modified_gmt":"2013-12-10T21:28:48","slug":"these-are-the-days-of-survival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/these-are-the-days-of-survival\/","title":{"rendered":"These are the Days of Survival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you ask me how I&#8217;m doing and I say, &#8220;fine,&#8221; there&#8217;s an 85% chance I&#8217;m lying. \u00a010% of the time, you won&#8217;t even have to ask. \u00a0The other 5% may be a 2-3 on a pain scale of 1-10 which is pretty close to fine if you ask me. \u00a0These are the days of miserable third trimester upper back pain coupled with Braxton Hicks reminiscent of my last six weeks during my other pregnancies. \u00a0It hurts to move. \u00a0It hurts to sit. \u00a0And unlike the other two times, it hurts to lie down. \u00a0The only thing that helps is walking and hydrotherapy (otherwise known as soaking in a hot tub for a very long time). \u00a0The unfortunate thing is that it is cold and I can no longer close any of my coats and we sold the treadmill before moving.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s called Survival &#8230;whether you&#8217;re of the fittest or not. \u00a0I&#8217;m not.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s called wishing pregnant women were allowed a fentanyl patch.<\/p>\n<p>These are the days of toggling between stiff with pain and writhing.<\/p>\n<p>But, these are also the days of feeling the curiosity of baby hiccups, gentle kicks, and tsunami waves across my abdomen proving the <em>life<\/em> of a baby who probably weighs almost two and a half pounds by now.<\/p>\n<p>These are the days of not coping with things that shouldn&#8217;t be so overwhelming. \u00a0Of fighting feelings of incompetence and inadequacy on almost every count. \u00a0Of crying and crying because I can&#8217;t stop. \u00a0Of feeling like a complete failure because while I&#8217;d <em>like<\/em> to have the eyes and heart of Mother Teresa, I can&#8217;t even eat lunch at church after putting down a fecal-matter splattered ring at church for the second time (no, there is no such a thing as separate restrooms for men and women there).<\/p>\n<p>These are also the days of prayers rebuking satan&#8217;s power by a husband who willingly goes to war for me when I can&#8217;t fight anymore on my own. \u00a0Days with words of life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/I-Corinthians-1-8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1277\" alt=\"I Corinthians 1-8\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/I-Corinthians-1-8-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/I-Corinthians-1-8-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/I-Corinthians-1-8-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/I-Corinthians-1-8.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Days with finding these words of inspiration from a friend on facebook (thanks, Mary June).<\/p>\n<div role=\"article\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"id_52a78413d67f95655435636\">\u201cI\u2019ve noticed something about people who make a difference in the world: They hold the unshakable conviction that individuals are extremely important, that every life matters. They get excited over one smile. They are willing to feed one stomach, educate one mind, and treat one wound. They aren\u2019t determined to revolutionize the world all at once; they\u2019re satisfied with small changes. Over time, though, the small changes add up.
