{"id":2611,"date":"2016-02-10T14:25:37","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T19:25:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/?p=2611"},"modified":"2016-02-03T16:26:47","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T21:26:47","slug":"wfmw-swallowing-pills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wfmw-swallowing-pills\/","title":{"rendered":"WFMW: Swallowing Pills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do you remember what it was like trying to learn how to swallow pills?\u00a0 Like it was yesterday I remember the way the pill would swirl around and around in my mouth as I took in a mouthful of water.\u00a0 It swam like a whale and then beached itself on the front of my tongue, even more forward than where I had dutifully placed it to begin it&#8217;s journey.\u00a0 Not only that, it now tasted horrible.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere along the way, long after I&#8217;d learned how to swallow them successfully, I read a great tip and stored it for future reference.\u00a0 It worked beautifully with both boys.\u00a0 Adam learned how to swallow pills when he was five!\u00a0 Liam didn&#8217;t need to until a bit later, but also learned very quickly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/learn-how-to-swallow-pills-1-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2615\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2615\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/learn-how-to-swallow-pills-1-of-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"learn how to swallow pills (1 of 1)\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/learn-how-to-swallow-pills-1-of-1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/learn-how-to-swallow-pills-1-of-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/learn-how-to-swallow-pills-1-of-1-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/learn-how-to-swallow-pills-1-of-1.jpg 1867w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Put some water into a water bottle, like the 20 oz kind.\u00a0 Anything with a smaller opening that automatically creates a pursed mouth shape.\u00a0 If the bottle is only a third full or so, they will need to tip their heads back.\u00a0 We started with a tiny soft gel because they are the easiest to swallow.\u00a0 You can get little fish oil soft gels for kids or Vitamin D soft gels.\u00a0 As soon as they got over the hurdle of letting something go down with fluids, they had no trouble swallowing a larger capsule.\u00a0 Adam has superceded me by a long shot and swallows four or more capsules at a time. {eyes bulging!}\u00a0 And I know, why would a child need to swallow so many pills? Lyme will do that to you.\u00a0 Thank God we&#8217;re nearing the end of the many capsule nights for both boys!<\/p>\n<p>Have you helped someone learn how to swallow pills?
