{"id":2843,"date":"2016-09-19T21:48:22","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T01:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/?p=2843"},"modified":"2016-09-20T23:21:43","modified_gmt":"2016-09-21T03:21:43","slug":"zaras-running-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/zaras-running-dialogue\/","title":{"rendered":"Zara&#8217;s Running Dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And on the heels of boy quotes, I&#8217;m pretty sure Zara could fill an entire post all by herself. \u00a0There are times David and I just shake our heads and grin at each other. \u00a0She is so girl. \u00a0For starters, there was the wailing episode in the bathtub when I asked her why she is crying. \u00a0&#8220;I don&#8217;t knooooooow,&#8221; she sobbed.<\/p>\n<p>Then there are the multiple times when her own jabbering isn&#8217;t sufficient and she says hopefully, &#8220;Can &#8216;ou talk wif me?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I love this stage of talking with all the mutilated words, but especially because it is just the funniest thing to hear such grown up stuff come from such little people (or miniature human as Adam would put it).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-20-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2857\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2857\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-20-of-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-20-of-1\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-20-of-1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-20-of-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-20-of-1-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-20-of-1.jpg 1867w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s no secret that Zara has older brothers. \u00a0She pretends to gallop on horses and shoots imaginary birds through the car windows. \u00a0But it gets\u00a0really funny when she mimics with no idea what she is saying. \u00a0Recently she started asking (in a rather whiny voice to boot), &#8220;Can I have some fwee [free] time?&#8221; \u00a0Um, isn&#8217;t that what two year olds do all day every day??<\/p>\n<p>Other times she gets all glow-y and says, &#8220;I&#8217;n an idea!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-10-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2836\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2836\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-10-of-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-10-of-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-10-of-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-10-of-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-10-of-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For awhile she would ask, &#8220;What time is it?&#8221; multiple times a day. \u00a0And then when I answered she got indignant because in her mind it was <em>always<\/em> 4:30.<\/p>\n<p>She gets pool and Pooh all mixed up and and so we often get asked, &#8220;Can me watch shwimming in du Pooh?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-18-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2855\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2855\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-18-of-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-18-of-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-18-of-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-18-of-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-18-of-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That little shw is just the cutest, even if it makes her sound inebriated. \u00a0&#8220;Oh, she sho shweeeeeeeeet,&#8221; she croons over Bella dozens of times a day.<\/p>\n<p>She was so in love with Bella long before she was born and would often ask, &#8220;Baby, mommy&#8217;s hummy told? [Is the baby in Mommy&#8217;s tummy cold?]. No, the baby isn&#8217;t cold. \u00a0&#8220;Baby Mommy&#8217;s hummy &#8216;ine?&#8221; \u00a0Yes, the baby is fine. \u00a0And then she&#8217;d be off to play.<\/p>\n<p>She is Miss Independent in capital letters and italics. \u00a0I know this is a rite of passage, but she&#8217;s certainly doing a good job of making sure we don&#8217;t miss the fact that it&#8217;s happening. \u00a0&#8220;How we do it?&#8221; gets said with only slightly less regularity than &#8220;I can mySELF.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-13-of-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2837\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2837\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-13-of-2-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-13-of-2\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-13-of-2-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-13-of-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-13-of-2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-13-of-2.jpg 1867w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then she gets all melty and cuddly as soon as she and Bella are both in the same parent&#8217;s lap. \u00a0&#8220;Do &#8216;ou &#8216;ave &#8216;ou two yittle dirls?<\/p>\n<p>There are so many, many consonants that get replaced. \u00a0She wears ship hops on her feet and says a bad word when she tries to say they fit. \u00a0We split laughing when she watched a video of Liam taken when he was three and her response was, &#8220;Whoa. \u00a0He can weally talk well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-15-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2839\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2839\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-15-of-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-15-of-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-15-of-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-15-of-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-15-of-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not only is she independent, she&#8217;s pretty sure she can keep Adam and Liam in line singlehandedly. \u00a0Sometimes the boys will throw ball with her. \u00a0She stands at the top of the stairway and one of them will stand at the bottom. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t level the playing field but it definitely makes it less boring for them. \u00a0Once when she went to retrieve the ball, Adam hid. \u00a0She yelled and yelled his name and when he didn&#8217;t reappear she said, &#8220;Hey, Mommy, A&#8217;am not being &#8216;bedient!<\/p>\n<p>It didn&#8217;t take her very long to figure out that Mom&#8217;s word is authority so one day when they were tussling on high in the basement and she was too afraid to join them she sat on the steps for a bit. \u00a0Suddenly she declared, &#8220;Hey boys, my mom tell me &#8216;ou &#8216;ave to dop [stop]. \u00a0I thought it was hysterical until the next day when she tried it on me. \u00a0She wanted something and I said no. \u00a0She looked at me and said quite certainly, &#8220;My mom tell me me TAN.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-21-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2858\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2858\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-21-of-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-21-of-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-21-of-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-21-of-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-21-of-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s still trying to figure out where things come from and recently she will often say, &#8220;Dis nummy, nummy, nummy. \u00a0Who made it?&#8221; when she likes the food. \u00a0But when I reply she insists, &#8220;No, DOD [God] made it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-19-of-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2856\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2856\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-19-of-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"childhood-19-of-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-19-of-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-19-of-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.michellebeachy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/childhood-19-of-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Liam is flat out amazing with her. \u00a0He keeps her entertained when I ask him, too, but more often than not he plays with her simply because he loves her. \u00a0He teaches her all kinds of fun ways to play, or gets her to join him when he&#8217;s working. \u00a0He just finished up his own thirty day challenge of running five times a day from our house to the neighbor&#8217;s house and back. \u00a0Zara badly wanted to run, too, so one day he took her out running across the yard to the fence and back after he finished his own sprint. \u00a0It became a need for her, suddenly. \u00a0One morning she was sitting on top of the loveseat trying to convince Liam to take her to run to the fence. \u00a0He wasn&#8217;t in the mood and said she could go on her own. \u00a0&#8220;No, me tant doe on my own. \u00a0Dat &#8216;ould be dary [scary],&#8221; she said sadly. \u00a0Instantly Liam softened and he took her on a run. \u00a0No wonder she adores him!<\/p>\n<p>My favorite quote though, is only about Zara, not one she said. \u00a0We were one the way home from the beach and she was being oh so very Zara. \u00a0David just shook his head and said, &#8220;I pity her husband.&#8221;
